หลังธนาคารแห่งประเทศไทย จัดพิมพ์ธนบัตรชนิด 1,000 บาท แบบใหม่ มีกำหนดออกใช้ตั้งแต่วันที่ 21 สิงหาคม 2558 ได้มีกลุ่มคนที่ไม่หวังดี ผลิตธนบัตรปลอม ชนิด 1,000 บาทนี้ ออกมาหลอกซื้อสินค้าตามห้างร้านต่างๆทั่วไป โดยอาศัยจังหวะที่ทางร้านมีผู้คนพลุกพล่าน และใช้ธนบัตรใบละ 1,000 บาท 1 ใบ เข้าซื้อเพื่อหวังเงินทอน คาดว่าจะมีการนำออกมาใช้อีก หลังหลอกตุ๋น ร้านค้าได้ไปหลายราย แต่ไม่เป็นข่าวก่อนหน้านี้
